Obsidian Entertainment's next RPG is making bold promises that should excite fans of the genre.
The company has Fable, The Outer Worlds 2, Avowed, DOOM: The Dark Ages, South of Midnight, and Towerborne officially lined up for next year thus far.
Currently, Microsoft has officially dated Avowed, South of Midnight, Fable, and DOOM: The Dark Ages for 2025, none of which have been delayed, an insider claims.
Obsidian Entertainment has showcased a new trailer for its upcoming first-person sci-fi RPG, which is due out next year.
"We want you to be able to do that just based on however you naturally progress through the world," says designer Berto Ritger.
Obsidian Entertainment's RPG will feature accessibility options for controls, camera, UI, text, and more, alongside multiple different localization options.
PC players will require an SSD and around 75 GB of free storage space, Microsoft and Obsidian Entertainment have confirmed.
Obsidian Entertainment also confirms pre-orders are now open, and reveals a Premium Edition, which will include up to five days of early access.
"It’s a first-person, single-player game, you don’t necessarily need that 60 frames," says Obsidian Entertainment's Matt Hansen, art director on Avowed.
Obsidian Entertainment showcases extensive new gameplay footage for the upcoming action RPG, which is set to release in February.
"I can tell you our ending slides number in the double digits, you can end up with a lot of different combinations of them," says game director Carrie Patel.
A newly released trailer – courtesy of Nvidia – highlights the PC-specific features you can expect when the RPG launches in February.
Feargus Urquhart says he's "impressed with the team", which has a "lot of people that get it and have worked on the first one."
Actors Brandon Keener, Mara Junot, Scott Whyte, and Anjali Bhimani will voice some of the upcoming fantasy RPG's key characters.
Microsoft has officially confirmed that it is delaying Avowed by a couple of months "to give players’ backlogs some breathing room."
It's claimed that Obsidian Entertainment's RPG is going to be slightly delayed in order to move out of what has become a packed final period of 2024 for Xbox.
First-party titles like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Starfield: Shattered Space will also receive theater presentations.
"When it comes to choice, we really try to provide breadth and a tapestry for the player," says game director Carrie Patel.
