In its latest financial report where the company touted almost $120 million in profits for 2024, CD Projekt has also doubled down on its goals of making more single-player games. In the opening pages of the report, co-CEO Michał Nowakowski wrote about how games like The Witcher 4 and a future sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 will continue to be popular.

Following talking about some of the major milestones CD Projekt hit over the previous years, including The Witcher 4 having entered full production, Nowakowski also spoke about how the company will continue to make single-player games while also collaborating with global leaders in technology to ensure that the company stays on the cutting edge.

“We are aware that the video game market continues to evolve – however, we believe that cutting-edge single-player games rooted in strong franchises and immersive narratives will continue to enjoy great popularity,” wrote Nowakowski. “Our experience, along with brands such as The Witcher and Cyberpunk, which it is our pleasure to further develop, help us build a strong position on the market and paint a positive outlook – while collaboration with global tech and innovation leaders enables us to keep abreast of technical developments in the industry and continue to deliver top-quality entertainment.”

In the same letter, Nowakowski also wrote about the company’s work with Cyberpunk 2077 in the form of post-launch support through free updates. He brought up the game getting the BAFTA award that celebrated continuous support for the game, while also talking about the upcoming Mac release of Cyberpunk 2077.

“During the year Cyberpunk 2077 went on to win additional accolades, including a prestigious BAFTA award, securing its status as one of the most consequential games of the recent years,” he wrote. “We continue to strengthen the franchise – the macOS release will allow us to reach new players and further expand the Night City community.”

Nowakowski’s statement about single-player games being popular in the future comes just a short time after EA CEO Andrew Wilson having spoken about Dragon Age: The Veilguard not hitting internal sales milestones. In a quarterly earnings call back in February, Wilson said that Dragon Age: The Veilguard failed to maintain an audience due to it not having any online shared-world features that would drive deeper engagement with players.

“To break beyond the core audience, games need to directly connect to the evolving demands of players who increasingly seek shared-world features and deeper engagement alongside high-quality narratives in this beloved category,” said Wilson. “Dragon Age had a high-quality launch and was well-reviewed by critics and those who played; however, it did not resonate with a broad enough audience in this highly competitive market.”
