Final Fantasy 7 Remake still stands tall as one of the best-looking games on the PS4, and running it on a brand new PS5 with the latest upgrades yields interesting results. Watch our comparison video below to see the differences between the game running on a PS4 Pro and a PS5.

The PS5 version of the game has two options, a 30fps Graphics mode and a 60fps Performance mode. From our tests, the graphics mode seems to be gunning for a native 4K resolution, which certainly looks significantly better than the PS4 Pro version of the game, which runs at 1620p. PS5’s performance mode knocks the resolution down, but succeeds in holding a steady 60 fps.

Unlike the original game, Final Fantasy 7 Remake features real-time combat, which instantly makes the 60fps mode the best in our opinion. The fluidity of the combat system and responsiveness of the controls have a noticeable impact, which are two of the biggest reasons why you should opt for the performance mode if you plan on playing the game on a PS5.
