Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is out this year, and while Warhorse Studios’ first title had a massive scale, the sequel is much bigger. The developer revealed it’s “twice as big” as the first game, with two maps to explore. Coupled with a story that sees Henry of Skalitz involved in the “problems of kings,” there’s much to look forward to.

New features also abound, including a more reactive world and a reputation system. Depending on your actions, Henry evolves in different ways. Lead designer Prokop Jirsa told IGN, “Henry is a young guy, so he’s not so deeply entrenched in his already, you know, set character traits. So you can build your Henry in different ways.”

As for the reputation system, it sees characters admonishing Henry if he becomes known for drinking or thieving. At higher levels, it seemingly influences various paths, with the player potentially able to “save the world” or “punish it for its sins.”

Kuttenberg, a large silver mining city under siege, is also new. Art director Viktor Höschl describes it as a “huge step forward for us, and I will say it was the biggest challenge in the game.” It plays a key role in Henry’s story, and while it couldn’t share further details, players are confirmed to meet “a wide range of ethnicities and different characters.”

“We are trying to depict a realistic, immersive, and believable medieval world that is being reconstructed to the best of our knowledge. Naturally, to achieve that, we are not only having our in-house historian, but we are very closely working together with universities, historians, museums, re-enactors, and a group of experts from different ethnicities or religious beliefs that we are actively incorporating into development as external advisors.”

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Like the original, it’s also developed on CryEngine, with further adjustments made to suit the team’s needs.
