EPA Issues Carbon-Emissions Rule
07-Dec-2009—The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency declared carbon dioxide a health hazard today, paving the way for new regulation of emissions from sources such as power plants, factories, cars and trucks. The decision allows the agency to issue rules to govern heat-trapping pollution that many scientists say may lead to irreversible climate shifts. An electric utility in southern Illinois is frightening thousands of its customers by spreading misinformation about President Obama’s clean energy reform agenda. The Wayne-White Counties Electric Cooperative has joined the American Petroleum Institute’s “Energy Citizens” propaganda campaign, telling its members to oppose the American Clean Energy and Security Act.

Highwood coal plant dropped for natural gas/wind
Billings, Montana—Blaming regulatory uncertainty and environmental lawsuits, developers of the Highwood Generating Station near Great Falls are halting work on the planned coal-fired generating plant for now and are going to build one powered by natural gas with wind turbines for additional power.
