"Tropico 6 is good, but not very good, or outstanding. Yet," says Kalypso's Simon Hellwig.

Those counting down the days to El Presidente’s return will have to wait – Limbic Entertainment’s Tropico 6 has been delayed. Originally set to release in January, the island management title will now release on March 29th for PC players. In an open letter to the community, Kalypso managing director Simon Hellwig revealed that feedback from beta players resulted in the delay.

Hellwig stated, “Over the holidays, I have played Tropico 6 for many hours and really liked what I saw. But, in my humble opinion, it is not enough to like a game—I want to love it! And Tropico 6 is good, but not very good, or outstanding. Yet.

“Combining my own opinion and the response we had from thousands of dedicated beta players around the world, Kalypso has decided to postpone the release of the game for another couple of months to March 29, 2019.”

To help compensate for the delay, Kalypso is making the first DLC for Tropico 6 free. Pre-order the game by January 10th, 8 PM CET on the official store or Steam to receive the DLC when it launches later this year.

In the meantime, what can fans expect to see improved? Pathfinding will be polished further, as will the multiplayer, economy, and simulation of the various denizens. For instance, your citizens will have a more active role throughout the game, setting goals and ultimately butting into your plans more. Considering how involved the citizens have been before, you can bet there will be some interesting wrinkles in the gameplay as a result.
